It will take a few months to raise you ADP up above $300 per day because the week of pay that will lower your ADP the most will be the first week of orientation.

The secret is not much more than making good use of your 14 hours each day. Working into a 6th day and using up your 70 hours for more weeks helps raise your ADP. Since your ADP is based on 5 days per week, any time you can work into the 6th day of a week can increase your ADP. Each driver has their own routine, so no one way is automatically better than others. I personally like to really hustle as much as possible the first 4 days of the week and usually go home by dinner time on the 5th day. If I have made at least $1900 for the week, I am satisfied. I take every load given to me, short or long, because they all make you money. The short loads, especially grocery multi stop loads, can really make money with all the extra stop pay and activity pay versus the long loads going hundreds of miles away. I like a good blend of each every week.

Keeping your ADP high is good for when using paid days off. It is really important for when you are on a leave of absence like I am currently and you are paid 75% of your ADP for the first 6 months.

I was talking with an 18 year driver in the dispatch room while waiting to do my road test and he told me about the grocery loads.

He said that some guys don't like them, but he takes them all the time because some of the drops are just a pallet or two and he's in and out as quickly, or quicker, than if he were dropping a full trailer.

Sounds like you will be on a 6/3 program. If true, that is great just starting out. You would have the same truck for the whole 6 days (more like 5 and a half days) and 3 plus days off, then switch to the other truck and repeat. Plus you will have a good share of weekends off. A lot of drivers at different DC's start on the extra board, depart on the same day every week, possibly slip seat several times during the 5 days out, then are off for the same 2 days each week.

Very true. That is why I like them. Usually the last stop on the multi stop grocery load has the largest part of the load and it is a drop and hook. Not hard to make over $40 an hour on these grocery loads if you hustle.

The only thing I could say is, contact the Human Resources person at the Office you are applying to and ask where they are in the hiring process. Things change quickly. My office was going to hire, but a change came unexpectedly in the warehouse, which made changes in the number of loads we had, so we didn't need any new drivers at the last moment.
