The 5700's actually have the same cab as the 4900's. They've just fancied it up some, its even the same under the dash except for the ICU4ME. Thankfully that's the only thing they took from freightliner for the 5700. I think their fine trucks but IMO the issue is that their not made at their main plant in Portland, but in their second plant, which hasn't been in operation very long. I did a plant tour in march at portland and most of my questions were about the 5700.

Since they have identified the issue they should be implementing some better quality control in the plants so newer trucks shall not have this issue again.

Reminds of of T2000.

The 5700 is a POS. worst $$$ I ever spent. I miss my cascadia.
-
I had one all spec'd out a couple months ago, glad i decided to not order it.

I don't see how anyone would miss a Crapcadia.RERM Thanks this.

Lawd, Im very sad that Freightliner does not know how to build a new truck anymore. What is going on in Portland Freightliner? Did that opium and pot finally fumigate the truck factory there?
-
The 5700 is built in North Carolina.
All other WESTERN STARS are built in Portland.
As to what the problem is, I'd say a serious quality control issue. Mostly in NC, but Portland needs to step it up as well. -
Im glad to hear NC is still building trucks. I thought they had closed during the recession long ago. Pardon me for the oversight. It's difficult to track everything all these years. Thank you for the clarification.

Yes, the truck (5700) is built in NC. The list of issues is 100% cosmetic except the air compressor vibration. All other things are just Freightliner lack of QC. Leaky turn signals that fill with water during down pours. Bad window seals that flop around in cross winds. The "drag neutral" visor is only that way in a 100% direct head wind, otherwise I think it's going to get ripped off at any second. I had some rattles when I first picked it up but those were quickly resolved with some zip ties on some wire bundles per @Oscar the KW advise (thanks). I will say the motor and trans are working great and the power is good. But FL has resolved those issues years ago.x1Heavy Thanks this.
