I have a stock Cobra LTD. I may or may not put a small 100 watt linear behind it.

The only experience I have ever had with power mics has been Turner. Back in the 70's I had a Turner that I dont remember much about on a Pace/Browning Eagle mobile.
For maybe 20 years, I used a Road King 56 on a couple of Galaxy mobiles... a 33 & a 44. I liked the RK but just wondering what you guys might suggest for this Cobra 29 LTD with or without a box behind it.

    Thanks for any relative input/advice.

Telex Road King 56 is decent. Unfortunately they are no longer made by Telex and aren't as good as they used to be.

    Grumppy Thanks this.

Power mics and a noisy environment don't play well with one another for obvious reasons.

ASTATIC OR A RANGER SRA 198 WORKS WELL........ MY MAGNUM RADIO WORKS BETTER WITH THE RANGER MIC. BUT MY GALAXY WORKS BETTER WITH THE ASTATIC.. THE RANGER IS A HEAVY MIC. LIKE ONE DRIVER TOLD ME HE COULD ALWAYS TAKE IT OFF AND CRACK SOMEBODY IN THE HEAD WITH IT. IF HE HAD TOO...........................

    Grumppy Thanks this.

Don't get a power mic, a good tune for $30 will make you sound, and perform better than any 9volt distortion multiplier will.
The RoadKing 56 may not be as good as it once was, but I think its still the best you'll find at any truck stop.

Talk to rabbi anout your cobra for a lil beef up..He might know a place other than hard drive out in mew mexico..
Forget the power mic..Astatic is or was good 636(i have a few and quality differs) and the sr198 that someone posted..The 636 is a more trevle type sound and the 198 is a more bass type sound..So personally i would base my purchase on the tone of your voice..

In my experience Mark is the only person capable of making a radio work better than stock otherwise stock is better than everyone else's work.
