True....when I first started wrenching I worked for a flatbed outfit with Cummins 315's and 350's (CPL 838 /840) hauling fire brick and steel mainly and they did ok but they weren't geared like most are today either.

My dad had a 9670 with a cpl 838, 9sp direct with 3.55's. Whoever owned it before him did a little work to it, that thing would out pull his friends 444. He was only only good for about 250k before he had to roll in new mains but it would pull like a sob and get 6.5-7.0 I would love to come across a hood with a bc3 and have it turned up a bit

A budy of mine just told me this weekend, when it comes to pullin heavy. If you got no power but lots of gears you're fine. If you got lots of power but no gears you're still fine but if you got no power and no gears you're screwed. Lol

What he said, it's a DD13, notice the air intake built into the hood? DD15 gets its air from the high pressure area at the bottom of the windshield.

So now all of you are going to make fun of me if I buy a Cascadia. Just great.

They are just a short BBC version of the normal ones. We have 2 of them. One columbia and one century with the 112 BBC instead of the standard 120. They are very stubby. Cant run big motors in them either the one has a C12 cat and its crammed in there, other is benz powered and the same way.

Like someone else mensioned, you might as well have a cabover. And the Argosy is available today with a 600 hp DD15 from the factory, but in Freightliners infinite wisdom, not for sale in North America.

Truckpaper.com must have 40 new and used Argosy cabovers available in Austrailia right now, in addition to the Century Class you describe. You don't want the Cascadia, it will scare the joey's.

NFI and Dart pretty much run a fleet of those DD13 equipped short hood Cascadias, day cab and sleeper alike.
