I have heard from other truck drivers that Prime is a CREAM OF THE CROP company with some of the STRICTEST hiring standards in the industry. I heard this at several truck stops in Kansas and Oklahoma.

I'll take a wild guess....Montana?

Wow …

I was born in Montana but grew up in PA and IL … living in the Chicago area now. -
I am happy to report that I have been "approved for orientation". I'm thankful and looking forward to this opportunity!
FullMetalJacket Thanks this. -

so, what did you have to do or say? I got turned down at Maverick because of a termination (attendance points in factory work),..someone told me if Maverick rejected me,..forget Prime. I was just curious what you had to do,...or if they gave impression they really need drivers.

It looks like both Maverick and Prime check DEEPLY into an applicant's work record.
HOLY MOSES!!

I have not tried Prime yet,... i figured as much so i talked to Melton. No school, but i told them my story and said i could go to the C1 truck school in Springfield with a state grant. Melton recruiter actually said she didn't think my story would be a problem and she would probably pass it to hire board. I need to call her back. Best advice i got, go to the smaller companies that are not as picky. After some experience,..everybody will be wanting to talk to you.

I guess my situation was more unique than I realized ... but Prime worked with me to verify my employment history. I would characterize the process as very fair but they do have surprisingly high pre-employment standards. I never had the impression that they were willing to deviate from their policies because "really need drivers". Prime looked like the best fit for me, I like their training program and all the Prime guys I have talked with have been very nice and helpful ... I'm thankful this worked out but there are other good options to get started. Good Luck
