Ok, flatbed hauling roofing insulation, I get your point. Those 8000# loads are a handful....

I got your 60 for conservation, Landstarve.... Chees, I thought that they governed their trucks cause all of them were poking. Plenty of time to get there. Poopie fsc. Got your point. I am parked, showered, fed and laying down to watch some local weather when you get in to drive around the full truck stop. If your profit margin is so slim that the difference between 60mph and 65 mph will put you out of business, well, there are plenty of former o/o's going thru orientations at all of the big 5 companies...and my company does haul your freight, mostly just in time stuff that has to be there....after they sweeten the pot that you don't get.

Now I understand how a lightswitch would break the bank...some out here have it worse than others.

Lights out all the time... I had deamtime running lights but they will still go out for a second if I flip the switch. I also hug the outside line to make sure there is a little more room when the other truck goes by.

Is this the computer or am I having a CB flashback? I think the subject has been thouroughly covered. I agree with gashauler. I never totally depended on the one I'm passing. He ain't drivin my truck. Also, whats the deal with the dang fog lights?
Nothing like running through the Siskiyous with fog lights in your face all night.

I never move until I am darn sure its safe no matter how they flash me over. But I'd prefer that you not flash at all instead of blind me at night. Sheesh had one fourwheeler flash the high beams and I swear to god he had to have installed airport search lights in his highbeams, I had a while for I stopped seeing spots.

I used to highbeam flash too, as I was used to a fourwheeler where we would never dream of turning off the headlights, that means we have to reach down and fumble with some stupid switch! Now... I turn them off and on, cause I've been blinded enough to know better >.>

You don't get it. My profit margin is not tight.

I prefer to keep as much of the money as I can.

What I do is what I want and do not care what you think. Most of the time, I receive no flash of lights when I pass, so I return the favor.

You may think you are parked or whatever. I can get passed by the same trucks at least 5 times. I don't stop as much as others, so I really doubt you get there before I do.

the safest way to let someone know they have cleared you is on the radio, if they have their radio off then it is lights off.

Lights-off. I don't appreciate a shot of high-beam in the mirrors at night. It's bad enough to get back in front of someone's maladjusted headlights or fog lights pointed skyward, without the additional candlepower of a high-beam flash. I thank with the interrupt switch at night, 4-ways in daytime.

Now, I have a pretty good handle on the length of the rig, and will get over when I can see the entire nose of the truck I'm passing...but I like to see the signal nonetheless.

here's another way to look at it....

What do the rules of the road say about distance between you and other traffic when using high beams?

    yeah, 500 feet.

If I'm not at least 500 feet from you, don't use the #### things.

I would rather not get signaled over at all than get signaled over with brights at night. Glare can be bad enough as it is, but when you flash your brights at me you just messed up any sort of night vision I might have had.

For the love of god, (at night) off/on or trust that I can figure out where the end of my trailer is, blinding me is not a courtesy.
