That's not Marten, that's the industry as a whole. More drivers want to be regional and fewer want to be long haul. The market truck to load racio has been unbalance, shippers want flexibility and the benefits of rail. (More loads delivered on time) less dependence on coal has free up some rail, expansion of the Panama cannel has made more fright get to the east coast, and I can go on.
But, more companies have seen the logistical benefit of regional operations and now have them, so they don't have on load on driver tied up for 5 days but can make 4 loads per driver/truck.
I'm not saying this to defend Marten, pick up industry news and projections, it's spelled out clearly, and look at JB, Werner, and others who don't really have OTR anymore. Marten goes where the feight is and where more drivers want to be. They were not the first, won't be the last. And guess what in 10 years, it will be different! It may suck for what you or I like, but I got a good 20 years to go so I'll keep up with it.

They said that about planes, and plans in comparison for programming are realitivly easy. They fly straight no traffic, no deer, just wind. When they allow a plane to fly without humans then I will worry.
But I think, and could be wrong, that we will turn more into airline pilots monitoring the system, heck maybe with convoying there will be more of a ####pit vib.
But it will be a long time before a computer can back up in Chicago, or any of the other crazy places we go! -
Just picked up a 1400 mile run from Sioux City,IA to Kissimmee,FL after doing a previous 1100 mile run from Rotterdam Junction,NY to Des Moines,IA. KA-CHING!! The funny part is my Qualcomm has been busted for a couple weeks and they can't track me so I'm basically an 18 wheel ghost.

There is no question about miles at Marten. I already drove 8900 miles this month. I am just getting so exhausted. I was late to Krogers warehouse today. No idea, if I sleot through my alarm or I woke up and turned it off without remembering. Sometimes I just want this truck to break, so i can find a quite bar and rent a room andvrelax for a night

I do at least 10,200 - 10,500 a month. -
Different strokes man. I know one thing tho if I get under 2500 a week I'm pissed. Thank the lord my DM keeps me rolling.

I usually reset my Trip miles on the first of every month. So, i still got little less than a week to get up there. I drove from TN to Orlando, Fl today. Tomorrow I need to be in SC. So, yeah. I am taking 5 days of home time in the beginning of Aug.
