Gps vs map. What's more dependable ?

Nope. Eight years and I've never used a paper map once. I don't understand why I would need one either.

 

If you were a local or small regional driver, it would probably be necessary to keep paper city maps, but the typical OTR driver? An atlas should be all that is needed, but I would never run without a GPS anymore. It's like a first officer in the ####pit there for when things go awry such as unexpected detours.

 

You'll soon learn what information you trust to do your job. Some jobs go into the tiny streets of the cities. Other jobs go to valleys out in the desert or factories up in the mountains. Some jobs deliver to a point on the map but the entrance is on another Street or worse, off a highway you could have only gotten on 15 miles ago.

So use them all, but don't trust them all.

& if you want to keep that license, stop, pull over and re-check that map or call for directions.

 

A GPS is a map. It has many maps in it and is interactive.
