I've been wanting to write something about this company for a while now. I told myself I will wait 90 fday at least.
Yesterday was my 90 day mark. Over all I give the company a "B". I'm a pretty hard critic.
About the company. They are a mid size company specializing in tank work. Haz mat and non haz mat. No foodgrade. The home office is in Toledo OH. Around 100 power units and over 200 trailers. Company and owner operator drivers. Terminals in Cincinnati, Cleveland OH, Chicago, (Gary ). And of course Toledo.
I am out of the Cincinnati terminal as a company driver. Pay is decent. They pay you on percentage and I keep very close track of my pay. @ the end of the week, I average $1200-1600 . I choose to stay out most all week. Sometimes get home once through the week. You can look @ it as average of .55-60 cpm. 2200-2600. My biggest week was 6 days 2900 miles. They allowed me to dead head back from Southern AL or I could have stayed over the weekend for a re load out of Pensacola. The choice was 100 percent mine.
I was told most of the freight was figured on a round trip. Meaning you technically get paid to haul out and if you get a back haul, that is just bonus money. I have found this to be true about 75 percent of the time.
I take whatever load is given to me and go. You can be more selective, but that is not how I'm wired. I get a load thank them for it and go. They keep me busy.
Equipment is Decent. I have one of the older trucks. Mid roof Volvo. They also have flattop and stand up prostars. They are getting some peterbilts in, but only a few to see if they work for us. Trailers are kept in decent order. There are some new trailers and some real old stuff. I personally have not had any major issues on the road with equipment. I pre trip the snot out of stuff and stay on top of my stuff.
My dispatcher and I get along good. Never an issue getting a hold of someone. The lead driver for my terminal is a top notch guy that gets things done. I have a question, he's got an answer.
If you have any questions leave it here and I will answer it, or in box me.
K-Limited carrier.

What is the insurance like? I currently live in FL but realize I probably need to relocate for better pay.

The insurance is decent. It is high deductable, but the company paysyour ddeductable after a certain amount. I think it is $2000 but you should talk to someone in the office before basing a decision on that. -
The weekly premium is VERY affordable.
