Talking with my student who doesnt know what he'll make. I told him my experience with 10 cents per diem while a company driver.

10 cents per diem on top of mileage pay wasnt bad. But I can imagine this info not exactly a great recruiting tool since inside people have supposedly debunked my claim. All payroll told me was that people get different rates at the company. That 38 cents a mile is competitive to start.

OK OK. Everyone starting with a company knows the starting pay rate. Lets not ##### about it afterwards, plenty of choices out there. Also, don't believe anything you are told until you see it in writing and don't make a hiring decision until you do see it in writing.

28cpm. Stevens doesn't start at 38cpm. There is no plus per diem. 28cpm includes per diem, so you're only taxed at 18cpm, then the 10cpm is added back into your pay after payroll taxes. This is how it's done throughout the industry.

Especially after looking at my settlements as a company driver for two months. Ive asked one other driver who has become a trainer byt stays on the company side. 7 cents a mile while training and 10 cent solo.

Ive been with Stevens since March of last year. First couple months as a company driver. The remainder as alliance lessee. I didn't get over three thousand miles per week regularly, but Ive talked to others who have. Since starting to train Ive gotten at least 3000 miles a week after a couple students and figuring out a couple things.
The two students who did graduate with me, the first couplevweeks out, at least one of those weeks was 3000 miles.

I start orientation with stevens transport next Sunday, august 7th. Anyone know what I can expect during orientation? I decided on stevens because it seems they have a great training program and I want to learn how to drive a truck properly. Hoping I get a good trainer so that I can learn as much as I can.

    pasmurf and SHOJim Thank this.
