California and just about every, no-name tractor hauling a container from the ports or rail-yards. If anything makes one want to remain a safe driver, nothing more than thinking back to those bad, old days from nine years ago.

Also, look at the legal forums section. About 90% of the questions are different ways employers have taken money from a 1099 "employee". My big thing to remember is for the owner doesn't care enough to follow the laws in this, what else does he skirt, or even outright break the law on?

Hourly pay is a red flag, as the IRS would view that as an employee status and not a 1099 independent contractor.

Depends where you are at if a 1099 is good.

Generally it favors the assigner in almost any industry. Usually big time if its a "non for profit" industry like travel baseball.

    1099? Don't do it....
    " This is trucker bait"
.... See if they can pay you thru a w2 , if they can't then they're not worth working for
Don't waste your job history on worthless trucking companies
Too many bad bets add up and make it rougher to get the prime jobs
.... Be wise about who you work for in this industry,

Ok, only if it is in the range of $26-$30/HR, would go for it.
But just remember, YOU are responsible for all the taxes WC, state taxes, SS and Health insurance. Your employer will show you as a contract employee on his tax forms and the taxing entities will look for your connected documents to get their share.
Don't think you can get away with it for a while and not get caught.

Yes but if you get hurt or killed it's all on you.
Workers comp in Oklahoma you get killed on job wife gets funeral expenses paid,$100,000 cash and around $600 a week for life, get killed on a 1099 job she gets nothing.
Is a few extra bucks a week worth risking your family's future?
