newer employees basically do NOT have a pension at all, 4 years for every 1 yr is beyond ridiculous, i would rather have a half a percentage point company match 401k, at least i will eventually have a few pennies to rub together under a 401k as opposed to a hoffa yrc pension.

democrats are promising to save the pension and the union push;s members to vote for democrat candidates, not that i would ever vote for someone because the union wants me to..theyre crooks and they wasted and misinvested the money they were entrusted with as well as sending vast amounts of our money to democrat candidates. there is no disclosure, where does our money go to? it goes to democrats. the democrats will not be there to fund the central states pension fund, there isnt enough money and there is no fix..they will continue to draw on that pot of gold until there is nothing left, that is what it looks like their plan is at this point.

the people to blame are at the top of the union. there is no disclosure about anything, where is our money going? why are these central states managers paid so much? how much is our union giving to democrat candidates and other political organizations? hoffa is still in charge, we only have ourselves to blame.

my first yr i made 69k and i got my first paycheck mid february, 2nd yr 76k (full yr), this yr will likely be around 80k and i have been working significantly less hours on avg and im still over a dollar under full pay. luckly dental/health is "free", but youre right our pay isnt where it should be..

overall the company needs to pay off its debt for our pension to return and our pay to go to where it should be at, there needs to be a profit. currently the only way to make the kind of money we should be getting in a normal 8-10 hr day is to just work more hrs, 12-14. and maybe that 6th day too. luckly we have enough freight to work as many hours as you can force on yourself, but long term that doesnt work.

That would have me seeing red. I've seen this way too often. People dedicated their whole working life to one company and get thrown out once they aren't profitable anymore. Same companies talking about how no workers are loyal anymore. Personally pensions never made sense to me. No business can be competitive paying their workers for 20 years after they stop working. But they shouldn't offer a pension unless it is 100% guaranteed.

Personally I'll take my social security and invest it myself. If you want something done right...

Exactly. Unions today aren't cost effective enough. But the other side is the fly by night or megas paying $12/hr or $0.23cpm. personally i feel that as long as I get my thousand a week I'm happy and I'll invest for my retirement by myself. Social security won't even be around by the time I go to retire either.

Every Union job I've ever had always had a bunch of the laziest people I've ever meet that could never be fired. Watching six guys making $26/hr+ washing a pickup while you're working hard really rubbed me the wrong way. They'd call guys in to do runs while the high seniority guys waited until they were on overtime to start driving. I just don't feel good with myself if I don't get something done. People have made fun of me for it but that's how I was raised and I feel it's the right thing to do.

I'm neither for or against Unions. They have had and continue to have a place. That being said you really have to bid for a route? What do they do if there's an extra five loads one day? No one can hual it because no one bid on it? Or if those five loads are on your route do you have to do them all? I'm just curious about how route bidding works.

All of our extra work goes out by seniority to drivers that are off that day, but a guy that has a bid on that day "rebids" before any person that's off, regardless of seniority.
