I've thrown away radios that are relatively new but out of warranty, and they just quit working for whatever reason, probably a cold solder or something equally silly relating to poor quality of materials and construction.
If I knew of a good and trustworthy technician, next time that happens I would let him go through the radio and make everything right that he could find wrong and hopefully fix things he sees that might go wrong. I know doing so might have me winding up with a radio that now costs two or three times a new one, but if it results in me having one that lasts indefinitely, it certainly would be worth it to me.
I hate the thought of buying another "new" one and going through the hassle of the warranty fix or after-warranty throwaway, again.
FIX or BUY NEW?

Yep but that doesn't mean someone like me or others who know a bit more than tuning doesn't know how the thing works and how to quickly fix it for others cheap.

There is something inside your radio protecting it when you blow fuses off a hard 12V direct connect or a plug connect. For the cost of the radio you might want to buy a new one or find a CB shop to take a look inside yours and find the little two bit part that keeps killing your fuses protecting itself.
I use a Uniden PC76XL Radio that cost a little more than a hundred dollars after I won at gambling cards in 101 CB shop in Calhoun LA off 101mm I20. I still have that radio I think it was 1995 when I bought it. I might buy a cheap cobra 19 to get the power, mike and antenna to put that old radio back into service again someday. Good times. -
