Got a road test with celadon next week. I have 6 months experience local but haven't been in a truck in two months and haven't driven a manual since school . I was never bad at it I was actually one of the better guys in my class as far as shifting gears but it's been a year and I refuse to ride with a trainer. Does anyone know the details of celadon road test ?

Once you learned it in school you will never forget. Like riding a bike. Dont over think it. Just get in the truck when its your turn and get it done!

You will either ride with a trainer or team with another driver at your level. You need to look at it from their POV. Went to school a year ago, six months local and hasn't driven in two months. Refresher training is in your future. Pretty much any company would want that. try a company that runs autos is another choice.

How bad you want to work?

Never going back to autos because of this reason right here. I'm a good driver I get it done I know what I'm doing I just don't think I need to ride with a trainer for something that will click in one day .

Just was wondering if it were possible the company might let me bobtail a bit around the yard . I need this local job for personal reasons just don't want to mess it up for something stupid like scrapping a few gears.

It is literally like riding a bike. You never forget.

Your refusal to accept a trainer or instruction will hurt you. Try to understand we are here to help you evolve and get good. Someday YOU will be called on to teach someone.

I spent ten years away from a truck until they called me in to shuffle trailers to support a production complex at the base in Jaxville. And I discovered that my own worries are unfounded. A few moments with the tractor and backing a trailer down is all good. Takes about a hour for the rust to break off and usually a few days roaming the area to really settle down.

There is a lack of expectation from a new student. A little more is expected from those with a few years experience and a Manual transmission will become a asset in a increasing automatic (Manual Endorsement on CDL Anyone? Don't laugh...) world. And Im very hard on those who have a decade or more. I expect them to run better than me.

Take a deep breath, enjoy your chance to get out there. You will be ok.

X1Heavy you right I think I'm over thinking it to much. I will never turn down good advice but this position requires me to get it right the first time or it goes to someone else . I'm just worried because I need this real bad never been otr and local jobs for a guy with my experience don't come by too often. but I got this.

A Manual Restriction, yup, documented right on your license, if you're from Maine and can't drive stick.

Orly? Surprise to me. I was trying to make light of what I think the future holds. If this keeps up we all will sit on porch watching robot trucks run.
