I don't know about the cents per mile. But i learned from the last recession. Those that make more. Work less.

Couple things with Crete, which they do pay that plus good benefits. Some of the loads pickup or deliver to customers "on the roads less traveled" meaning they seem to get higher revenue for some loads (not all) by going to out of the way locations. Costs are controlled by discounted fuel stops, governing 62mph, and avoiding the expensive toll roads which can be a pain, such as avoiding the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

    I say this.

In the 80's pay was either 25% of gross that I got or .20 a mile. That's it nothing else really. Then the container boys paid per box regardless if it took 4 hours or 30 hours. Something like 65 dollars a box Baltimore to Norfolk. Bulk Tanker Cement Paid per load. if you got in 5 loads to the Pentagon Arlington Concrete Ready Mix from Lime Kiln Maryland and stood a chance to get that 6th load in one day delivered it's 67 dollars per load blown into the slio. Speeding tickets start at 45 dollars and one point for under 15 over and mandatory arrest at 95 mph or over. You got 7 points before being suspended. So... risking a few tickets to get 6 loads gone is worth several hundred dollars a day.

    Now?

I expect according to my last pay schedule no less than .46 a mile. In fact being a trainer a couple of times I was paid a salary so high that it did not matter anymore if I did 20 miles teaching someone to back all week until they got it. One of those someones was actually my wife. She turned out ok, but they paid her I think .28 to my regular rate of .35 and it was pretty good because most weeks we cleared a thousand plus net together to the truck.

    Now?

I see Immigrants coming over and being paid .24 maybe a little bit more. A company can put three of those trucks for the cost of one of me at 60 a mile?

What does that tell you when the arabs come here from middle east to drive our trucks? Hmmm?

Read the reviews, some companies, are just more honest then others.
Ive been at jb hunt for a few months now, they pay correctly, without bogus deductions.
Always get paid for my expenses, and make 3 cent bonus each month.
    Starting wage 39 cpm.

Another thing people don't realize is how many miles you're really going to get, if there is a bonus plan and if it's makeable!

Danny Herman trucking gets a rap for being low pay... Yet I take home more then 99% of the drivers per week. The miles are there and the bonus plan is very easy to make...

    Best company to work for!

Places like Gordon trucking use to advertise high but you were lucky to get half the miles I get
