Yeah, Landstar seems to make it much easier cost wise getting on your feet as an O/O.. I realize I've got to put money on the side to operate, but I'm a little surprised your maintenace costs thousands per month!?

You should do just fine! Stay out for 3 to 5 weeks at a time. At least with Landstar your not getting totally screwed by a broker keeping as much as they can. Stay East of the Mississippi. OH/PA down to SC/NC and back again. When you get sick of it take a trip out to Washington State to clear your head then take it up the ### getting back to OH.
Yoyoredrum, CasanovaCruiser and Rattlehead808 Thank this. -

Awesome.. Yeah I can run it hard no problem.. Pretty familiar with where the freight is and isn't.. But really I need to get into what you do, I know tgere is money on that side.. I assume by your profile name you pull flatbed? -
Landstar agents like chubby wife's and they are proud of it. So, when calling an agent say something like, I hear your wife is a real porker. That will make them feel really good and will probably give you more money then advertised.

Yes, a flatbed although I stopped running in February. Still have my truck and trailer. My old job was in a pinch for the 3rd time in 10 years and went back to help out AGAIN!! I think I'm done trucking though.

Not kidding. I did it all the time. Nice long ride.freightwipper Thanks this.

No, the truck costs thousands of dollars per month. Plus fuel is thousands of dollars per month as well. (Assuming you're actually working)
These new semi trucks are $150,000+
You could get a used one for a lot less but maintenance costs could be a killer.
I won't get into the new vs used truck debate lol.Rattlehead808 Thanks this. -
Say what!? LOL.. Ok, you're messing with me nowSkate-Board Thanks this.
