Even the Icom 7000 required a few component changes to achieve the desired result although it was a much better rig to begin with.

Clarity is greatly defined by frequency response and most rigs don't go above 3000 hertz making it difficult to discern many consonants from each other.

True assuming your noise level is the same as mine. Always question the noise source.
What if my noise level was 20db lower than yours in the same parking lot?

then it still should be named that....I'm not knocking anything here.I'm mobile with a cb radio moving down the highway if I talk to a ham radio base station I usually can have a conversation for a good 30/35 miles then I'll move thru mountains and the landscape terrain come into play...and everything else I mentioned earlier. cell towers etc etc and etc.especially during prime hours of the day..white noise white noise and all kinds of noise including my wonderful truck I'm driving. a signal is only going to reach out but so far and receive but so far. till mother nature will disrupt it.

oh let's not forget power lines I'm looking at right now to my left. I see mountains in front of me out to my left and to my right . it's daytime and I'm sitting waiting to be unloaded... I can tell the noise level is not that bad at 9:15 am. I'm I'm in green river ut. the noise levels might not even be all that bad here. there's not that much to this place. not like I'm in Chicago or los Angeles.

my mistake I'm in st.George ut. I'm lucky I remember my name sometimes and where I live. which most times is inside a truck. whoever said sleep is overrated is full of it ... you don't have to do drugs to burn Brian cells. just don't get much sleep and you can burn up plenty of them.......

see that's what I'm talking about rabbi posted the thread and I was curious myself about the topic. then he gave the man the info.needed to do it. it's not like it's a lot of $$$$ to make the connecter changes or too change the connecters. sorry but I think a whole lot of things matter and they are subtle and not that much $$$$ or time to do.......

The 7000 was a good radio but it wasn't the best one. What mods could be done are limited and I don't see much improvement.
