Arkansas is not too bad yet on our roads other than 30 and 40. Most of truckers here are local working and they keep the semis away from people usually. We cruise in our car at 64 for fuel reasons, trading A/C load for fuel consumption during summer months. Nitrogen equipped tires are also cooler then. Trucks come up and change lanes around us no problem.
If we ever got hit, it will be a bad day and the payday after will be kaching to anyone stupid to follow too close.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -

I hear you on the speed limiters and all the other stuff being done to manage the driver herd.
I know that as bad I was sometimes I would like to think we are professionals. But I shake my head when I see boots, cameras, tracking etc etc etc etc being piled on a undisclipined bunch of drivers who are little better than whipped cattle unable to think for themselves it seems... or stay safe at all... maybe we should go to robot trucks. No more humans in the cab.
I lean that way by the week the more i read about the measures taken to tighten the thumb screws on stupid people who should know better. collectively that is.Dave_in_AZ, LindaPV and bzinger Thank this. -

I just drove that stretch of 80 a couple weeks ago running from Rotterdam Junction,N.Y. to Des Moines,IA. That particular stretch has ongoing construction from LaSalle County west to just outside the Quad Cities. I bet you some of those drivers were probably trying to "jockey for position" before they hit the construction zones.

Does anyone know of a website, one that isn't too full of legaleze and regulatory mumbo jumbo that reviews these accidents with the official accident investigation results? Say a 2-3 paragraph description of the vehicles, drivers, conditions, essential information and an official conclusion of the causes? Searchable by maybe state, or highway or types of vehicles?
Instead of us relying on the early news reporting, which is incomplete at best, and prejudiced at worst, like this case, I think we could learn a lot from the details of the accident reconstruction.
Here is an example of what I am after that covers at grade RR crossings:
