Ya i know that. Along with over all length permits. I was wondering what their legal axle distances were since he listed them with California and Connecticut.

41 ft in Florida. $100 fine if you don't have an annual

Are you sure about that? I see 53 reefers running all over down here with the axles nearly to the back of the trailer.

That's like me in CT. They just choose to look the other way usually.

One company that has the step deck axle placement figured out. A 53 foot step deck with spread axles, the king ping is special, the usual 30 inch king pin, flips up and then a second king pin about 56 inches from the front is used. They position the fifth wheel directly over the rear drive axle, with the new trucks never a problem getting 12,000 on steers. They get stopped and measured but because of the deep, deep kingpin, the king pin to axle distance is legal. Ace Express from Brandon SD.

I've thought about that too..... Basically like a flip neck but i couldn't figure how to make it work with a step deck because of the swing required. How can they swing a 56" KP setback on a step deck?
