What's the best credit card to get that offers the best points for, hotel, cash back.....etc. I don't plan on using much, but just as a backup.

    Thanks for any replies

    None.

I tell you why. If you want a credit card, put up 5000 dollars and get a VISA Black supported by this money as a defense against being unable to pay on time while on the road. You know bill paying is really hard to keep on time on the road.

The Black Visa will get you into places normal cards wont. And there is a concierge on call 24/7 to arrange any emergency last minute travel where you are told to get on the plane and go here.

My second favorite card is from Navy Federal Credit Union. Same services We had to go to Alaska and increase the line of credit into the low 5 figures for Probate. And they did well by us and Ive gotten very loyal to them.

I realize not everyone has 5000 dollars to put up to defend a Visa Black. But you should try it because again this particular card can get you services and things not availible to most other ordinary cards.

I bank with Bank of America
I have had the Cash Rewards card since March and just deposited $230 from the rewards into my savings.
Pay my balance each month, have not paid a cent in interest.
One card is enough for me, cannot recommend anything else

I don't buy into the perks.

Best card for me is tangerine bank master card. 2% cash back on 3 select categories, for me, fuel, restaurant, and recurring bills. 1% back for all other purchases. 0 fees. Same interest as everyone else 19.99%. Introductory fee of 4% cash back on your categories for 3 months.

Not sure if you have it available in USA. Any card with 0 fee and cash back is good.

I'll never understand why people think it's hard to keep on time payments for bills on the road. About 90% of my bills are paid either over the phone, or via online services. Most banks have an online bill pay where you can schedule payments each month. So absolutely no reason for not being able to pay those bills on time. The only bill i can't pay online is my electric bill. My wife pays it via cash when it's due, and if she couldn't pay it, i can schedule my bank to send a check for the correct amount on a set day.

Capital 1 Quicksilver. %1.5 back on all purchases. Bonus $100 if you spend $500 (I think) in the first three billing cycles.

Capital One Quicksilver - 1.5% back on all expenditures. Pay on time - no interest. I pay mine weekly.

I think CitiBank has a 2% - on purchase, on payment, 1%/1% card...

I use the prior. I don't carry cash. I'm terribly frugal. I don't waste money and I came from a really poor family (dairy farmers).

If you don't need it - don't buy it.
This credit thing is not a free-for-all. What you do today will leave you bankrupt, disapproved for the mortgage and decline for the automobile loan tomorrow. When you REALLY need it, they'll say 'Disapproved.' No 'Sorry' about it.

Again, if you don't NEED it - don't buy it. Unless you're doing well and have the excess cash.

As an aside - condoms, across a life time, will be cheaper than the expense of one child. So would a vasectomy. A kid is one of the quickest ways to break yourself in this, modern, era.
