I jumped ship a few months ago as well. Pay wasn't amazing and the benefits were good but way too much a month for a family.

Anyone know why there would be fluid leaking out of the vapor recovery port on the trailer? I did a drop and when got back to the rack when I uncapped the vapor port about two cups of fluid drained out. The tank I dropped in was 3000 gallons from being full when I was done, so I know I didn't over fill it. The unit that did this has over a million miles on it maybe everything is just worn out. Thoughts?

Happens all the time in colder weather, during the winter when you roll your vapor hose before putting it away you will get lots of it. It's a natural accruing condensation, although if you ever overfill a station it can end up in your vapor to.Last edited: Aug 2, 2016
moloko Thanks this. -
Colder weather or somebody did a pump job and didn't drain the hoses. In colder weather, I would always walk out my vapor line as well as my product line so this wouldn't happen.

Chevron beat that problem by installing dry break fittings on all their vapor recovery ports. Tried to get my company to do it but they pulled out of the terminal. I do not know if they did install them or not at other terminals but it's a good idea.

Yup we have butterfly valves on our vapors, even have to carry a piece of paper letting Mr. DOT know why we don't have caps on our vapors.
-
Arco does the same thing, valves and no caps. Our new trucks all have caps and valves. My current truck only has caps so you need to be careful popping that thing when its cold or you'll get splashed.

T&T is great. Learned the gas business In all those tiny Shell & Chevron stations in downtown San Francisco. Give me a moto-mirror, and I'm good.
Cali kid Thanks this. -
Well I have caught on to gas hauling pretty quick. Starting to feel more comfortable with getting in some of these tight stations. Almost makes me feel like I am learning to drive for the first time, lol. Should get my cards by end of next week and go out on my own.

Yeah, it's just the condensation of vapor due to cooler weather. Are you a night driver ?
Also, I had a question about this vapor that has condensed back into fuel. What kind of fuel would it be? Like, what octane would it be? Would it be acceptable to put in a vehicle? The reason I am asking is purely for informational purposes. I had to "offside" deliver some premium the other night, and popped off the vapor cap that looks like it hasn't been popped off in 5 years. About 2 gallons of condensed fuel vapor splashed me, I had to sprint to grab my bucket and it filled a 5 gallons bucket half way! I dumped it down the 87 pipe.
