Can't say nothing bad about them at this point. I started out lease, first check was $727 after all expenses for 2725 miles. Little less miles the next week but will get close to 3000 this week.

But if you want to spend your time in truck stops or 4 days at home, lease probably isn't a good idea.

First 3 days are classroom, the next week 4 days of pad, backing etc. Then 11 days out with a trainer. Was worried at first about only 11 days, but if you got common sense you'll be fine when u got your own truck.

I'll keep this updated for those thinking of leasing and let you know how things go. Heard a lot of bad things but so far I got no complaints, but then I'm not sitting but driving. I mean that's what I get paid for and a sitting truck makes no money.

HI sorry for the late reply. I did not end up going with TransAm. I chose May Trucking instead. I'm sure TransAm is great but I just didn't like what I heard and saw in orientation and when we were on break in the yard, talking to their current drivers.

And I'm glad that you agree with what I said about comfort and money. To me, it's about balance. If I can live off of what I make and still be comfortable, I'll take that any day off of being rich and unhappy.

I am not responsible for what you or anyone else makes. Whats killing the profession is the fact that truckers won't band together to stand up for themselves but instead wants to be every man for himself. What's killing the profession is disrespectful a##holes like yourself who get on the Internet or sit in trucker lounges and b**tch about everything and blame everyone for everything but still go get in their trucks and drive. The fact that you're putting the blame for low pay on a new driver speaks for itself because you sound ignorant. How about you find another career? Better yet, how does college sound so you can educate yourself?

I drove for TransAm from around 2006 to 2015. I did all my time as a company driver.
I am currently leasing at Henderson trucking(caseyville , IL) pulling Prime inc. trailers.
Transam is ok as long as you don't lease. You'll be amazed how many guys sign the lease when they see those brand new trucks at Olathe. I used to tell every guy I could going thru oreintation, don't lease. But Transam has some lease guys hanging around lying and claiming they make 5000 miles a week.

I heard may trucking is an alright company to start out with. Planned to work for them last year but they have a policy where you need to be in radius of a terminal to be hired.

How are the miles at may trucking? Heard they gave students a raise to .35 cents a mile. Are you on western regional?

They run me good. Im on the guarenteed pay scale thing. I make 910 a week. I chose all 48 because I wanted to try pulling reefer but I may try western 11 soon if I can't get in with a company to start pulling tanker next spring. They have their problems like anyone else but I know what I'm making every week, I can live off of it and my truck is comfortable like I wanted. So I can't complain.

Awesome. I was in the same position as you starting out in trucking. No kids, no bills, just hopes to make money.

I saved up a lot of money in little less than 2 years working for one of the megas doing team driving. Lost a lot of money too because of bad choices and getting carried away. Im doing ok now though and back on my feet.

Good luck and remember to have fun out there! and stay safe.

    Never lease from transam.
Fixed costs are too high. 84 cents is nothing.
Transam is only ok if you stay company.

I'm considering May also. Its nice to see someone on here who is happy with them. I have gotten conflicting information about their idle policy. If you have the time, could you explain how it works?
