PA 5 min idle law.

If I didn't have a tri pac there's not any law or LEO that would get me to shut off my truck in 90 degree weather, I'd just claim I have puddy cat in front of me here somewhere. Every anti idle law I've seen has a pet exception.
AM14 and CaptainDaveG Thank this. -
Funny, they let a truck idle for a pet but not a person!

Most states have exemptions for temp above and below certain temps. Some even state that you can idle during mandatory rest break for driver comfort
Here is a link to the idle exemptions.

Statewide to "prevent safety or health emergencies" (sweating while sitting still is an emergency IMO)
OR
With a certified clean idle sticker.
One of the benifits of teaching the permit book 28 times a year for 4 years is I have the page numbers committed to memory. -

Captain DaveTennMan, drvrtech77 and gentleroger Thank this. -
I forgot this truck has the clean idle sticker. Not sure how since I probably see it 10 times a day plus I just peeled them off of my pickup truck

Wednesday afternoon I was told that my truck is being retired (4 years 498,750 miles) and I was being routed to Gary for AMT training and a new truck. Not thrilled about the AMT, but change what you can, endure that which you can't, etc etc etc.
Thursday morning get told, oops, not a new truck after all. 2014 with 400k. Overall not in bad shape. New fuel pump and belts, drives in decent shape, and recently cleaned. Not to my standards but then again I'm a persnickity SOB who lifts out the floor liner and drops the dash twice a year just to clean.
What irks me is that in under 6 months - after spending an awful lot of energy making the truck quiet, clean, and comfy - I'm going to get pulled out because it will be getting turned in. To make matters worse the passanger seat is fixed - no air ride - which means my trainees better be able to ####### shift the ducking truck or nice patient Gentleroger will be putting boots places where boots don't belong.
In the grand scheme these are minor issues but I'm tired and frustrated so I want to kvetch a little. 6 years, over 750k safe miles (had a little incident my first year going down a "emergency detour" coming out of Tunkhannock), top 20 in the division for MPG, usually near the top for bonus, have a reputation for making the impossible possible and I'm going into an aged truck that will have DEF issues all winter long simply because I am a trainer. Thanks
