Well, learn something new every year. The two are so often hand in hand, I didn't realize that was a thing.

I got my class A with a Chevy 3500 one ton & 40' gooseneck without air brakes. It didn't have an air brake endorsement, but when I got back into a big truck two years later, I just took the test for air brakes & added the endorsement on to the class A CDL.

Let's not forget the cost of the truck and trailer. Yeah right there's big money to be made at a dollar or maybe more a mile. There's plenty of cheap freight to haul that will have you making less than a wal mart greeter. -
Something you forgot to mention. If your trailer GVW is 10,001 lbs, or more, many, if not all states will require you to have a CDL A license also.
I know a few guys who have done well running under 26,001 GVW also. Congratulations on your success. I hope you continue to do well. -
To the OP, hauling the livestock trailers privately is a big difference (legally speaking) than hauling a 40 ft goosneck, commercially, across state lines.
-
Also the 26k limit is not just actual weight but rated weight. If your truck and trailer GVWRs added together are over 26k you need a class A CDL. My dually has a GVWR of 13,025 so even with a 14k rated trailer empty I need a class A.
Also with a vehicle over 26k you will need IFTA and apportioned plates if you plan to cross state lines. -
