I worked for the post office about 5 years ago, as a temp, I would run the office, when they where on lunch. About a year after I left, they got rid of the temps, and now they just close for the time instead. This happened to 3 of our smaller post offices. Worst part of it is the postmasters, work much shorter days, but continue to receive the same salary???? This I never understood?!

American only truck crazy girl, cause nothing else will do!!!!!!!

Well as any other business that is required to hire a certain percentage of people on welfare and such, their performance tends to go down... I assure you there are many hardworking people in the post office, unfortuantly there are to many slackers that ruin the hard working individuals efforts..

The USPS is very poorly managed . A few years ago National Association of Letter Carriers locals began suing local post offices for using temps in violation of the contract . Despite several courts ruling in favor of the union , other post offices across the country continued to use temps the same way and more suits were filed , the union winning every time . Just one local got $35 million . http://www.lunewsviews.com/grievances.htm Then the post office decided to replace the Chevy S-10 framed LLV city vehicle with a Flex Fuel Vehicle with an Australian Ford Explorer frame an drivetrain . The FFV was far less fuel efficient with a 26% drop in MPG.
