Tim Hortons

I still don't think we like each other, but I have to agree with the above post .... to a certain degree.

 

Tim's in Atlantic Canada and New England are all company trucks. Brown leased day cabs hauling b train food wagons.

 

I'll be up front and say I'm definitely not a coffee snob, but I have to disagree. To me they are of similar quality, different, but similar. I prefer Tim's. After experiencing Flying J, Husky (brown water) and other truck stop coffee, hitting up the Tim's in Moosomin or Brandon when out on the highway was like the sky opening up and a choir signing in the morning.

I try to avoid McD's altogether. Their food is too tempting for me, especially the breakfast stuff, and it's just downright awful for the body.

 

One morning I crawled into the SB Vaughan one and got my cranky behind a coffee. Has exact change thinking I was a cool kid. Lady told me it was .10 more and right away I said falk yew then realized what I said and asked why the increase all of a sudden. Then I realized I was standing in an on route.

On topic..don't know what they get paid but they all look happy. There's a bunch of them not far from my parents in Sudbury I'll try to bug if I'm ever in the area.

 

Hahahah. The first time I asked about it and told the girl I was going to have to stop going there because it's getting too expensive. I haven't stopped unfortunately.

 

I've often wondered about Tim Horton's trucks... Cannot be the worst to drive for. Kind of like Martin Brower, they don't seem to have one, never-ending ad, looking for drivers.

I guess the pay/benefits must just be high enough to prevent a total revolving door of drivers...

 

If I'm not mistaken, MB and Tims drivers are unionized under United Food Workers.

 

Brower used to be Teamsters. They probably still are.

Horton's I do not know...

 

I think you're correct. MB might still be Teamster .... at least in Atlantic Canada. Not sure about Tim's. I also think Loblaw's drivers are under UFS union .... I also heard something about union busting there as well .... not sure about that .... not going to Google it now ... bed time ...

 

Loblaw's runs a lot of their freight through 4Tracks now. I very rarely, if ever, see an actual Loblaw's truck on the road anymore.
