The scientist types behind the mirrored glass so as to not spook the drivers as they observe them in their native habitat are going to go nuts when they see this example of reasonative deduction and abstract thought. While Swift drivers keep stepping on and off the mat hoping for a treat, there will be articles in scientific journals about you, my friend. :D

Nope. I tried that. That's what they got upset about. They said the point of standing was so crane operator could see you. I asked what the light over the truck was for. The guy just looked at me funny and took my chair.

Got to one place years ago , slide axles to rear , drop trailer in assigned door , block both rear most wheels , apply glad hand lock , park in bobtail lot two blocks away. Get inside for driver count, oh that door is broken, can you move it over one door? No problem , one the way. Handle moving it over and everything else, get back in side , trailer is half loaded ! Lift driver is saying I was not there to count! Well yeah , I had a extra 15 mins of work because of their broken door. Will not unload so I can count, and they will not let drivers sign Shipper Load and Count(SLC). Sign bills SLC , shipper flies hot, balls up the bills and throws them away. We go through about 15-20 sets of bills. Tried Shipper Sealed Trailer(SST), Said To Contain(STC) , SVC, CCC, and every other way you could think of. But not signing for count if I could not count it my self! After about 45 mins of shipper yelling, I remain calm, I circle the pallet count and sign there. That he accepts... I could state there were X number pallets, that's it!

The funniest one for me , tractor supply stores make you exit the truck during unload. Usually 1-2 hours of walking around the store when i just want a nap :D

This is some great stuff, I only have done dry van a few times in my career otherwise it has been tow truck or car hauler. I thought my worst was doing bottled water deliveries when the receiver has a fork truck but will not lift the whole rack down off the trailer so I had to hand down 1 5 gallon bottle at a time, 48-60 times then they would take the empty rack off the trailer!

My current stupidest load policies are with auto auctions, they want you to give them the VIN number for the car before they will print the gate out pass, but you can walk freely thru the yard, so in reality you could just find some nice cars and write down the info, take them and run. Used to be you gave them the destination and they handed you a stack of passes, that simple. Now they could care less about destination, it is assumed if you have the VIN you have the right car.

I also have one auction I am at almost daily that the general manager blows a gasket if your truck is not perfect in the loading bay lines, or heaven forbid it is sale day (they sell about 1,500 cars that day) and there are more trucks than lined spaces (15 spaces) and someone parks in an open part of the lot (average truck holds 9 cars), he will have security escort you off the lot and put you on their not allowed list. Never mind the area of the lot we load in is about 15 acres, never full, and out of site of the main building, he actually has security patrol it and checks himself several times a day.
