Omg ! 891.45 saved in truck fuel saved over an 18 day period running a 700 doller generater and a 137 doller ac unit .
I could replace this every month and save money !... -
You could replace the generator every 2 yrs with a new one and still be ahead of the game compared to an APU.
Eventually a few more guys will get the idea and might try this and we will have new threads with guys who are as excited to find a cheap solution to saving fuel and still able to keep cool or warm while not idling.
Its an easy $10k+ a year in fuel savings. Not sure about you,.. but there is a lot I could do with $10k vs letting it burn out of my exhaust pipes.

For going for a walk to a gas pump everyday lol
-
Why not go with a small diesel generator? Then you can just install the fuel pickup tube into the truck's tank.
-
Well northern mech ...cost of set up on a gas unit is cheap and return on investment is quik ...diesel units arnt cheap ...gotta about 900.00 bucks in mine and it paid for itself in 18 days .

Price and noise.
Those Perkins motors will keep me up all night from the vibration and noise.
That and they are not as reliable as the Honda. Nor would I have the same service market available to me as I do with the Honda. Thousands of Honda certified Cycle and RV centers across the country I can go to if I ever have a problem. 2 yrs and not a single problem yet. (Knock on wood)
