This is not the official site and it does have a couple of pop up survey's, but this should help him.... I did about half and yes the wording is a little different than what regular people speak, but at least it does not count against him.
He just can't pass!

Back in the day when I took my written test I scored 100% on all 3, Class 1, 2, and 3. The year 1979. I was desperate and I studied like no tomorrow.

That's no good.....

Tell him to fear not and do his best to stay calm and focused during the process. If he psych's himself out mid way its only going to lead to more common sense errors in answers. His confidence at this point is lacking.
Its all a numbers game (parts of it) and knowing the components of the vehicle and what they do. Mix it in with the element of hooking up/ driving. Some of its just common sense but other aspects need to be memorized. Following distances/ dash gauges and what their readings should be etc etc.
I had my permit in hand before starting the community college program. Not required but I didn't want to be the last guy on the last day to get it all done. There were quite a few people who struggled with it and some went down to the wire. Classroom part was only 3 weeks and after the first week people were going back daily or 3 times a week to test.... they'd knock one out and fail the other two or some would pass two but fail one for a week.
I'll agree with what everyone has said, use these guides and there are other free ones on the net that change the words up. This is the video of a pre trip, it goes over a lot of the components and numbers.
The rest of the book covers hooking, rules of the road and some regulation. Best of luck. Computers easier. -
Also if its a multiple choice test (guessing) weed through the answers. Pretty easy to eliminate 2 of them usually. Don't over analyze the last two.

Maybe you can help him more by having him sit down with the practice tests on this very website all by himself and take them until he can consistently score above 90 percent. As far as the wording goes, many of the practice questions were just like what was on the real test.

Most of the time, answer is in the question.

Honestly, if he legitimately can't pass these tests after putting forth the effort to study and learn this basic information, maybe he shouldn't be driving a truck. Not everyone can be a doctor right?
Not ment to be mean.8thnote Thanks this. -
Do the practice test on this site. Over and over and over. I read the book and done these test. Passed the first time but if I had been just relying on the book I would have failed. The test questions here are almost exactly the same word for word. Only difference was the test at the dmv here only gave you 3 choices for answers. Test on here have 4

I too don't want to offend the OP but these tests are really easy, and maybe this isn't the right line of work for him?Diesel Dave Thanks this.
