The analyzer is only as accurate as its last calibration. To say that a clueless individual can go inside and turn screws Any Which Way without affecting its accuracy is completely insane.

DUDE....Im not at all grumpy...Only time im not happy is when this radio stuff has me frustrated or the woman im with doesnt finish what she started..Or when propane/beer runs out before steaks are done...

Rabbi..I never touched the mfj..that was a cb shop in ky that set it up with a dummy load...

ANYWAYS...I got a aa-30 ordered through dx engineering and delivered to a kinek in maine..Now i can get one cause they dont ship to canada(well on this item)and ill pick it up on my way through maine...Save some $$ on shipping and duty fees..

    Criag,

Here is the thing that gets me, people don't get that before they run out and buy something else that may need calibrating, check their equipment first.

What rabbi posted about the mfj calibration, I read it and thought it is long and worthless, because you need to check it first to see if it even needs it, there is an easy way to check the unit to see if it even needs calibration. I have a really good article about checking it and another about how to actually calibrate it easily ... no I have not had a chance to find the articles because I've been working 16 hour days.

What I remember is you need three things, one is a non inductive resistor load for 50 and 75 ohms and one shorted connector. That's it.

I don't think the rigmaster is all that great, the support sucks from the OE and its internals outside the controller is about the same as the mfj. I would have first checked the unit you got and then gone from there. We are not talking about the need for precise measurements for mission critical communications.

The reason I knock mfj is that they are a branding company for many of their items, they get stuff made overseas with their name on it and packaged ok. Much isn't tested before it is shipped and I've had a bunch of things I had return with some difficulties with thier CS people.

Ridgeline is correct it's easy to check to see if it is calibrated and it won't cost you much money but it requires some quarter watt carbon film resistors.
If you find out the calibration is off that's where it becomes a worthless pile of junk because it'll cost you $100 plus shipping both ways to have it recalibrated.
In regards to rebranding someone else's product
That's definitely true regarding the MFJ 226 made by times technology.

nothing is perfect never will be .I personally don't think mfj equipment of any kind is that great but like rabbi said it gives you a ballpark of whats going on. I said try a rig expert just to get a second opinion.....you want the very best look up wavenode digital swr/watt meters...they are not cheap $$$$ but a hell of a lot better than just about anything else out there......

and when you get a wattage of your radio off a wavenode. you'll get a realty check in a hurry that your radio does not do all those big watts you think it does. most radios don't come close to the wattage these so called cb shops will tell you they do !!!!!!!
