I would be more inclined to believe that they are reviving the LT in name only.

    ∆∆∆ This.

The old LT architecture can't handle the stresses necessary to be a viable successor.

I'm waiting to see what else they can do with the pushrod design.

Isn't the next ZR1 supposed to be an overhead cam design with 5 valve heads? Seems I might have read that someplace--I can imagine a Stingray with 750 horses and an 8750 RPM redline...Porsche/Ferrari/Lamborghini snobs are getting a rash right now. And Bugatti owners are sweating....

Actually, I read somewhere that the next generation Corvette will be mid engine. They (GM?) said there are no more gains to be made handling wise from the rear drive design.

More than likely. Like when they shut down Pontiac, but kept selling rebranded Holdens under the Pontiac emblem (G5, G6, and modern GTO) for.a few years.

Will be interesting to see what they come up with for the new LT series. Definitely got me considering how long I should delay my new Camaro purchase.

G5 was a Canadian model brought here. It was a Chevrolet Cobalt with Pontiac emblems. The G6 was a Malibu cousin. The GTO and G8 were rebadged Holdens. The G8 lived on as the Chevy SS. Wish I had 50k laying around. I would have bought one.

Can't say I was excited by any of the G model Pontiacs. None of them had the class or grace of my 04 Grand Prix GTP Competition Group. Which, of course, I still have. And once I get the transmission rebuilt, I'll be back to driving (if I can get dragged out of my Buick, that is).

Guy at work has a G8, he keeps it immaculate. Nice looking car, but no idea how it drives.

The G8 was a fairly nice sedan. I really liked the styling. Reminded me of a BMW. I would have liked one with the V8.
