When they replaced your turbo is it possible they forgot to re-install a heat shield between the exhaust manifold and the turbo inlet plumbing? Most trucks with plastic turbo plumbing have heat shields where the exhaust manifold is in close proximity to it.

They probably forgot to put a heat shield back on between the exhaust manifold and turbo plumbing when they replaced your turbo. There is usually one installed from the factory when those two things are in close proximity.

How might one check the waste gate for proper operation?
Not seeing a check engine light or anything.

I don't believe this one ever had a heat shield. I don't remember one, there's no attachment bracket. I thinking the waste gate is possibly staying closed? But no check engine lights? Might have to have someone with the cat software scan it?
