My work history is a bit spotty... 6 months on, 6 months off, on average, for the last 5 years.

I also just remembered I received a ticket for driving with my cellphone in my hand over the wheel. It was on speakerphone. I called my family to let them know I was past E and had a quarter mile to go before the next gas station. The officer told me that he was being watched by his superior up the road (spotting) and that I should fight it in court, but I never did, I just payed it off. Great.

I don't know, I'm going to remain positive... & if I work hard OTR, my experience will eventually speak for itself. I have no issue with exercising resolve to prove myself.

Then no one will question the period of time you were in rehab.... Just your normal pattern.

All answers are NO and you were not in rehab, you were unemployed.
@8thnote that posted on here has been where you've been, so take his advice.

All the more reason to look into Class 8 towing this will keep you in your home area.
Expect long hours, night callouts, working holidays, etc.
Downside is OTR companies do not accept this duty as OTR driving experience.

Another possibility is hauling containers, cutthroat deal usually commision pay, and dealing with teamsters can be beyond maddening. You will get lots of nap time waiting.
But this will keep you in a "home" area.

Dump truck or Concrete delivery is another possibility. Beverage routes, or food distribution are other areas to look.

Regarding your question to the DOT Doctor

If all 26 boxes are checked (No) you get a smiley face for that section. If you check (Yes) to any of the boxes then you have some possible hurdles in front of you and some explaining to do....Here is the form.

Those are all possibilities, @Bent Wrench thank you for helping me to organize my thoughts & options. I am certain that getting my CDL A will be a positive decision, and those possible employment routes only fuel my drive. Thanks. My grandfather was a OTR trucker. He was a good man. I just want to share the same values. My father worked 75 hours a week, he was a good man as well. Thank you all. I will PM you @8thnote

Carolina Cargo - "Why are you applying here; this is a second chance company?"

Weeezerd - "I received a cell phone ticket and some guy told me it would be hard to find a job because of it."

Wow....do want the truth or the consequences....clean six months aint #### ....you are a disaster waiting to happen. The pressure and the stress of doing this job could cause you to relapse the first time you go home with a 1000 cash in your wallet. Dopers are liars and cheaters, they will lie about how long since the last time they spiked....

So you think you coming here looking for advice and what? Everyone tells you to lie about your heroin use. Like that's goinging to help you....

Wrong. Getting sober is having to face reality. You are the addict. Period. You are one, just a day away from using....if you step outside the box...the box is what keeps you safe, it is where you get the time and the tools to climb out of the box....not before its time. Thousands talk the talk but unable to walk the walk.

N/A...A/A can promise you freedom.....yes it can...but it is up to you to have the strength to find it. As it has been said, the truth will set you free.

You can't come here, unload and then take it back....so once you lie on a DOT medical exam about your addiction....you will carry that burden as a consequence of your disease. How can you keep lying and expect to remain sober when the lie is WHAT GOT YOU IN TROUBLE. No more lies....for once in your life try to accept your disease HAS MADE YOUR LIFE UNMANAGEABLE.

Honesty without compassion is brutality....the truth is the trucking industry needs sober men and women, not a guy six months clean. Go get a job mopping floors if you have to, but stay away from the trucking....if you were to lie on an app and you are involved in a accident with a fatality, they will tear your life apart and find out you have a history of drug abuse....you most likely would wind up in prison for a long time.

Right now you should be taking baby steps, not running the roads all alone with no place to take care of your recovery

Go to meetings, get a sponser and don't use....it works only if you work it one day at a time....

No sugar tonight.....just the hardcore truth.
