Well i've made a few posts. I was convicted of a DUI highest rate on may 2013. I'm currently in school to get my cdl. So i've called a lot of companies and most said needs to be 5 years old. I am pretty much hell bent on Transam it's the best company i could possibly get with right now. Would it be easier for me to get hired for them if i do the lease program? or can't i because i have no experience? I'm not doing this for the money so pay dosen't matter i just want to get some experience and drive OTR. The other company is Baylor. THus far, those are pretty much the only companies that require 3 years for the DUI, and hire students. Because all the other companies require atleast 1 year experience. Another company is prime.. it dosent say on their website but ive read online from posts that they require 3 years and they do hire students. Anyway i applied to Transam shoudl i call them and ask the status of my application or something? and again would it be easier to get hired if i do their lease program? and to Chinatown if you read this all those companies you listed i called and none of them will take me want atleast 5 years for the DUI. God i wish i didn't drink and drive that night.
3 year old DUI currently in school.....

Here is a list of DAC violations and the lengths of time companies ice violators out in number of years or lifetime for certain ones.
The People you have been talking to say 5 years, this is in line what is expected of those such as yourself. Hang in there.
Me? I once took three years off but used it by running a dump and trailer paving people's driveways and building parking lots in addition to timbering. A small farm/family operation, no dac in sight for me at that time and I would consider that a great success the way it fell into place for me long ago when I needed to keep driving with a stack of violations that no one would touch.

Q : I have used many services to look for a driving job but I'm having no luck at all. What would keep me from finding a truck driving job?
If you are having more difficulties than normal, there may be something in your driving record, MVR or DAC that is holding you back. The following are examples of items that might keep a company from contacting you for employment:
1 or more felonies in your lifetime
A drug related felony conviction
10 years or older felony conviction
Child pornography related conviction
Convicted of a violent crime
Firearm related conviction
Murder / Rape / Misconduct / Burglary / Robbery / Capital Theft conviction
Assault & Battery
Conviction/ investigated / or suspected of involvement in of terrorist activities
Currently on probation or parole
More than $5,000 of damage from a preventable accident in last 5 years
3 or more moving violations in last 3 yrs
3 or more preventable accidents in last 5 years
Truck abandonment in last 5 years
License suspension is less than 3 years old
1 or more moving violations over 15 mph in last 3 years
A DUI/DWI within the last 5 years or more than 2 DUI/DWIs ever.
Fired in the last 5 years
Ever failed a drug screenNavigatorWife Thanks this. -
and oh yeah now im seeing that transam wants 5 years.. Does anyone know ANYbody who got hired with a dui under 5 years? Did i just waste 5k? lol
-
Don't mention the lease program. If TransAm approves you, then show up for orientation and don't ask anything about a lease. If they push it because of the DUI, then that's your decision to go for it or not.
Did Baylor say they will take you? -
none of them said they would take me ... baylor just says 3 years on their website.. I'm pretty much F'd for the next 2 years i guess. Will i need a refresher course in 2 years?
-
Might as well get your CDL in spite of the time against you. At least now you will have it. It's something I would do. Nothing is a waste in life unless you sit and do nothing at all today and lose it all to sloth and laziness. That is a waste.
People make mistakes. But when you decide you are going to go do something like getting a CDL, go get it. You might not use it right away but you will be ahead of the majority of people when your time against you falls off and it's time to go.rachi Thanks this. -
nevermind i found on there website it is still 2 years.. but on other websites it says 5 years. But in theory would transam hire anyone to lease on with them as long as they meet the requirements? At this point i will lease dosen't matter i just want to get in a truck and out of this life sucking warehouse lol.
-
Oh i'm gonna get it lol i already paid for it and it is pretty exciting to learn about anyway. I'm really passionate about this career. Sometimes it's all i think about. In how long will i need to get a refresher course though after i get my cdl and don't drive. Would it be okay for 2 years?

If you are desperate to get into a truck, you might hire on as a piano body with a moving company. You would be sleeping while moving riding in that right seat until you arrived at the end of someone's house move. Then move everything by hand into the new household for wages as a manual labor but you will have a chance to get out into a truck. But I promise you, you are going to be learning what it means to be bored at times.
-
I don't know about a refresher, most of the time if someone decides you need a refresher, you go take it.
If I was medically able to do right now, I will have to go get a refresher, Not worried about the backing, driving, shifting etc. None of that it will be the hours of service and technology that has gone into a place I consider excessive big brother for me.
