What difference does being female make? Not trying to be a buster, but you said,
but now your first post is moot, because it's to a woman? If a lack of confidence is a dangerous situation, is it now okay?

OP, whether you run team or whether you're solo, whether you get the best trainer that ever rode shotgun, everyone lacks confidence when they start. Confidence doesn't come in an FDA and CSA approved pill yet, so you going to have to go the back yard home grown route and grow your own. Wanting to have a teammate because of a lack of confidence is like a crutch. Do you want to get around on crutches or would you prefer to be able to run with the rest of the kids? Not saying that teaming is bad, but teaming for a crutch is. The goal is to be good at what you do. I would prefer to see you with home grown confidence and become a solid driver than be crippled with depending on another.

Now, why don't you ask the gang about ideas to boost confidence while in a trainers truck?

Thank you TripleSix... Seems that Skunk_truck hasn't been here in a looong time...
I heard some folks saying that females (in general) lack in confidence to do this job of trucking... while males (in general) have overconfidence.... that is in general... Of course each person is different... The ideal is a balance...
In my case, one of the reasons I wanted to team was low confidence... something that I quickly realized on the second week teaming, that I would be better off being on my own... and I would be able to do a better job being on my own... But the company didn't allow any newbie to go solo... and I didn't want to leave the company after a few weeks... so, I bit the bullet and stayed there, teaming for the whole 6 months... It wasn't easy AT ALL... :biggrin_25513: But after my 6 months I was ready to go solo, that was my first winter driving any kind of vehicle (I am from Brasil where there is no snow), on my own going everywhere in America... And I would have left the company had they not allowed me to drive solo...
Now, I TOTALLY enjoy being solo... I enjoy doing EVERYTHING there's to be done and being the captain of the boat... :yes2557: and I drive for another company now that is Safety Award Winner and has been in the top 20 Best Fleets to Drive For for a few consecutive years...
So... Like Mr. Big Don here wrote, confidence is something that comes with experience over time... those who have the ability to learn from their mistakes and improve will grow confidence and succeed... generally... :biggrin_25519:

Well heck...maybe I should check the dates before replying. I just caught that reply, and I actually agreed with his first post. But then for someone to give a completely different reply just because he finds out you're a woman? I disagree. If a guy is expected to do the job, a woman should be expected too.

Anyway, glad you overcame that challenge and realized that you can do anything you set your mind to do.

I totally agree with you... :yes2557: A person (male, female) is supposed to check all the requirements before they apply for a job. However some may have wrong assumptions and only find out later.... Which happens a lot in this industry... :biggrin_2552: Folks don't do enough search and believe all that recruiters tell them...

I enjoy team driving,as I never get stuck somewhere, short on hours..plus Im the best driver on the planet!
But getting a poor team mate sucks...some are scary, and you rarely get a test run,but you can usually split up,next time you reach a terminal.
Team trucks get the longest loads on a consistant basis.
