If HOS had anything to do with protecting drivers from being overworked, there would be a limit set for on duty not driving time and overtime pay requirements.
HOS is there to protect the motoring public from truck drivers who are so tired they can't see straight. Nobody cares about the truck driver.JC1971 Thanks this. -

I cut it close quite often, depending on when i leave dallas and how many wrecks are on I20 and then again I75 After im in florida

Is changing to off duty at the end of the offramp at zero minutes before making the turn to the truck stop cutting it close?

I used to think a driver had a problem when he had hazards on going from the off ramp to the truck stop at 2 mph. Now I know

Well I got sent out pretty far this week. Yesterday, I got to the Pilot in Gary, IN with 0:22 left on the clock. Today I got to Sardinia, OH with 0:05 left on my clock.

The closest I have gone is 1 minute left on the clock. Not worth the stress.

I just did that last night! I've done it quite a few times recently since they started sending me farther from home!
