Looking for someone who can answer my legal question. On I-86 near Waverly,NY the highway crosses into PA for just over a mile stretch. Now here's the tricky part: New York maintains the road , New York State Police patrol and there are no signs stating that welcome or exit Pensylvannia. What do you recommend ?
Ifta I-86 NY / PA

Don't mention it. Ain't worth th calculation. NY state commercial plated trucks run that road- they ain't getting off to go round that part.
Run it and forget about itstayinback Thanks this. -
Doing NY-IFTA-HUT Is tough enough trying to Figure every quarter When and Where I was on the Thruway as opposed to Free roads.........We Certainly aren't going to Nitpick the Southern Tier highway for that Teency Weency Section.
Bean Jr., clausland, Ruthless and 1 other person Thank this. -
I have ny plates that's why I asked

Never mentioned that stretch at any time.....dating back long before ifta......been audited....b4&after IFTA.....never been an issue....although officially you probably do have to show Pa miles
-
I always thought that there was a law that with Tractor plates "(in state only) you were allowed short distances into the neighboring states

There is one, itty bitty sign which says 'State Line'... but that's as formal as it gets. I don't know what, if any, weight that carries.

I would think that piece of I 86 is considered a NY State Highway even if it dips into PA for 2 or 3 miles. It has never had PA markings. Before it was upgraded to I 86 it was NY 17.

I never noted it, same as the short stretch of 684 in NY that passes through CT.....
Ruthless, Highway Sailor and peterd Thank this. -
Pre-gps. Reported that stretch of road with my new York miles.
Now my GPS tallies miles it's reported as Pennsylvania miles.
Not sure of the legality of how to report it.
