I pull into a pilot to fuel . All lanes are full. It's a tight pilot, and a truck appears parked next to the cat scale near the entrance. I stop behind him for a few seconds to see if he moves. Nope. So I get in line at a pump. Ironically I picked well, and it's the next one available.
As soon as I get pulled up, here comes a driver, waiting for me to open the door.
He says I cut him off and pulled in front of him . I told him I didn't realize he was in line. He shook his head and as he walked away said "eff you too" and as he got more distance between us, " I ought to beat your ###"
In this scene, I chose the high ground. I pull around and get into another, suddenly available fuel island.
I realize he was waiting far enough back so that he could pull into any lane, whichever was next and didn't want to commit to any until it was clear.
He also saw me behind him long enough to know I was waiting for him to move. And I commuted to a lane, before it was clear, just happened it was next one to be available.
I don't think either of us were wrong . But a little more communication would have been a bit more pleasant.
I try to let calmer minds prevail , and I always have the calmer mind out here. I try not to have an inflated ego or too much pride. I tend to do what needs to be done to defuse a situation before violence becomes the only option.
I'm like Bruce Banner with a really long fuse. Don't make me angry....you wouldn't like it when I'm angry. Granted, since becoming a driver I have never had to, or come close to "Hulking out" on another person .
Seriously though , threatening violence because of a fuel island?
I guess fights have started for less.

So have deaths.

It looks like it's going to work out that I'll get to PA in the morning and I should have a water load ready to go when I get there, back to MI. Then I can swing by my Dads place and we can go check out my sisters new house. Just got one on a lake near Brighton. Maybe I can go fishin when I visit.
It's well deserved. She busted her butt getting where she is today. I'm very proud she finally got her dream home . -
As in deaths from a fight were a result for less.
I get that. I wish we. As a species would evolve beyond the "violence is the answer, always!" Mentality.
I guess we are factory installed with it.
I'd be a hypocritical liar if I said I don't enjoy watching combat sports like boxing and mma, and of course we are only a couple of weeks away from nhl camps, then my nights will be absorbed into following another quest for the Cup.
So, we just deal with it as best we can.
My brother in law has an MMA fight next month, if I'm around Traverse City, I may go see it.
His team is training my girls to defend themselves. I'll not tolerate any more bullying. I don't condone fighting, but I'll justify defending themselves to all ends.
Usually if a bully gets popped a dandy, they want no more to do with that person. -
Commit to a lane and deal with your choice. I ran into the same thing last week or so. The dude in front of me was waiting for the first open fuel island causing all the trucks behind him to wait. They were starting to set in the street all because the dude would not commit to one of the 5 lanes. I'ts all about me!Wickedfire77 Thanks this.

Canned food and powerade took a toll on me this week. I just had a cheeseburger from a real restaurant and I feel so much better. No fries. I had mixed vegetable instead. So vitamin depleted I felt sick.
Knucklehead Thanks this. -
There are deaths resulting from arguments about taking a beer from the fridge. Human life is continuing to be worth less and less.

When I got off the road in June, my body felt so much better, getting some good food into it. Even while on the road, I tried to get to an Iron Skillet, so I could start off with a big plate of salad. I've been there, eating hot dogs and tornados day after day. The body isn't made for that crap all the time. No wonder diabetes is an epidemic.RERM and Wickedfire77 Thank this.

I always commit to a lane and deal with the result. Sometimes it's good and sometimes not so good.
At Love's, I always anticipate a lengthy delay; they've become so popular because of their reward program and less expensive fuel that every one of them is a madhouse at any time of day. But every so often I make the right choice, like I just did at this Love's.
And now I sit here watching as a CR England driver tries to back into a completely open spot. Behind the fuel lanes. With no lines at any of them. And enough room in front of him to turn a Navy ship.
Maybe his third try is the charm...?Highway Sailor Thanks this. -
Think multivitamins...!Wickedfire77 Thanks this.
