I live in Houston, and was wondering if that would be a perk to live closer to the terminal? Would love a reply back. Thanks .

I was interested in usal, and was wondering if living in Houston, near the terminal, would be a perk or not? Would really appreciate a reply.

    Thanks.

Do you get a little more home time during the week? Not that it's a deal breaker, but I was just wondering.

I am sure it's possible. I don't live down that way or ever get to Houston.

Canton ms has tons of freight too. Not sure what either are like to work for. Usal treats me very well.

The good thing about living close to any USAL terminal is. You would be able to sign up for any local work that becomes available. Some of those runs will pay very well.

    crb Thanks this.

Ive been trying to get in touch with someone about working west point, i wonder if they are home everyday, or weekends or how its set up around there, not opposed to hiring on in canton if im just home on weekends then make a lateral move to west point if a position became available, submitted app online 2 mos ago and havent heard anything, left voicemails with nobody returning calls!......you would think 23 yrs accident free driving would mean something.........lol im running cali and oregon every week on paper logs and its killin me!

West point only has a few drivers. Birmingham would be your better bet. There is a truck shortage.

I've been released from USAL's training program about 2 weeks now.I have made around $2200 the last three weeks.Only been broke down once in the last 3 weeks.I have been able to get some loads thru the house for the weekend.I have been averaging around 38 hours at home weekends.I been using up my 70 hours each week.Once I get faster loading and unloading the home time will increase.I have found that some places are easier to load at than others.I loaded up in Lawrenceville Ga for the 1st time.It went good.Loaded in about 1:45.All the cars were small though. All the USAL dispatchers and drivers have been very helpful. The drivers go out of there way to help you with directions to dealers and advice on load placement.Going to climb in the bunk now I'm beat.
