Yeah I know what you mean. But truth is those prices don't mean anything. You show up with cash, you leave with a truck. They over charge for them anyway.
-
You can do both. Either pay at the end of the year or be on the safe side and pay quarterly.

Keep 10k in a untouched account and only use for truck repairs and then put the money back and you will be fine! Good luck.Last edited: Aug 26, 2016

If your want to avoid egr you gotta go a bit older. 03 and newer engines from cummins and detroit had egrs. Some guys have good luck with the cats and some don't. Me personally, I've had amazingly good reliability from detroits so that's all i would buy.
If i was in your shoes, id look long and hard for an 02 or older 60 series. There are plenty of centuries and columbia out there that can be had for 10 to 15k cash. Just do a really thorough inspection, cause obviously there is no warranty on a truck that old. I would also get in the mindframe that every truck will break and the only one that cares enough to fix it right the first time is you. Stock that tool box and be ready and willing to turn the wrenches when its needed.alqpmz Thanks this. -
This is correct. If you are self employed you pay quarterly estimates or face fines every year. Now if you only make 10 grand doing lawn care part time the fibres don't add up to enough to worry about. But for those that actually make any money worth talking about it is a pretty stiff fine.
