Attend a private 160 hr. cdl school, then hire on with a company that will accept your cdl school DOT physical card. This way you won't need another physical and will only do a pee test for the first trucking job.
Put your location on your profile so we know the hiring area you live in.
Since you're quitting the medications before school, check "NO" on the physical form.
Another issue; just because a DOT doctor passes you on the physical doesn't mean a company has to hire you. Some companies do hair follicle test, but most just pee test.

 

What company policy is that?

I've worked for two megas, neither of which asked me about medications or had policies requiring that I disclose medications or other confidential medical information to them.

 

I just did my random today so I am hitting the cough syrup tonight.

 

Are you trying to say that no Companies have a policies regarding prescription drug use? Or just the two "megas" you worked for didn't..

Lastly, on drug testing...A company administering a pre-employment urine test can have it tested for anything they want..So I wouldn't recommend not disclosing a drug I was using...

 

What company administers a pre-employment DOT drug screen and tests for classes of drugs other than those specified by DOT?

Also, if a driver has a prescription and tests positive, the MRO will contact the driver to determine if he has a prescription. After the driver provides the prescription, the MRO reports the test as Negative to the company. The company is not notified of the initial positive result or that the driver is taking a prescription drug. The company gets a Negative test result and that is it.

 

Do you mix it with Mentos and Mountain Dew?

You should look up what a pre-employment drug screen is..Has nothing to do with DOT..

Also if the OP wanted to keep taking his sleep aids he'd be required to disclose them at the time of his DOT physical..I'm not about to tell anyone on this forum, or advocate lying on the questionnaire.
