Doesnt make sence to me. I applied to Maverick last week as a new driver. They sent me an email that said that they would contact me within 24 hrs. 5 days later I called them to find out the status of my app. and they had to find it on someone elses desk, (hadnt gotten to it yet). Then after the recruiter looked at it, she told me that because I have been off work for the past 18 months, that I had an unstable work history. ????? On my app. it clearly says that the reason I was off work was because I had suffered a back injury and had under gone rehab. I am now ready to get back to work and get a new career started, but according to them, I am unstable. KMA, I have worked steady for the past 26 yrs, and do not appreciate being called unstable. So on I go and try and find a company that has half a brain.:biggrin_25516:

Did you really expect a flatbed company to hire someone that had been out 18 months with a serious back injury ? You say you have worked steady for 26 years but at how many jobs and how long at each job ?

flatbed is hard work and you must be able to perform.
the last thing they want is to hire someone with back a injury
and have to spend more money in claims, and if you where you for 18 months then your injury was really bad and could cause problems in the future.
Anyway good look in your job hunt.
if i was you id stick to van your chances are better there

No maverick is only flatbed, and specialized flats. And they are right about maverick being cautious about back problems, they have a prehire physical that is crazy, it takes about 2hrs or so, and they have these ladies come in and bend and twist you in every way to see if you have any physical problems. And sorry to say if you just were off for 18 mo due to a back problem, doubt they will hire you from what I saw and heard there.

Maverick won't hire you after that back injury. No way. Too much liability on them. Problem is, MOST trucking companies will not hire you. Sad, but true. The only choice you probably have is to find some small, fly-by-night operations. These companies, most likely will NOT say it is because of that, but it is. Matter of fact, IF I saw that on an app, it would be SECONDS before I dropped it. Sorry, but this is a HIGHLY litigious society and now people don't want to take chances anymore due to it...

You've gotta be kiddin me, companies don't want to take a chance on a pre-existing condition? Say it isn't so! I had a brain once, so (insert negative trucking company here) wouldn't hire me, was afraid it would come back when I was driving. LMAO.. and sorry if you work for "negative trucking company"!

You would never get thru orientation. The ability test would do you in. After slinging 150 lbs lumber tarps and swinging like a monkey off your load trying to secure and tarp it you would be out of work again. Why would they want to foot the bill for your next 18 months off?:biggrin_2554:
