Take it from a former beer truck driver who used to do 20-25 stops a day! It is no fun doing that many stops 20-25 stops is a lot believe me. I've done beer routes with I think one time was 28 stops the day just goes on and on and on and on. Right now at GFS we really do not seem to go over 16 and usually were at 10-13 and that's enough trust me. 20-25 stops you'll be driving the truck a foot stop get out unload get back in drive 3 feet up the block stop get out unload/deliver wait to get paid half the time your solving problems with the customers order.

The top drivers will get the loads to California or out west with 20 stops and then backhaul something, the older driver said the new drivers deliver all around Ohio, PA or NY, and the occasional run out west to keep them happy.

$25 to unload furniture? I don't think so.

I'm guessing it's a 53 foot trailer loaded to the hilt with office furniture, the heaviest type of furniture there is, and you're making 25 stops on the way out. Unloading during hot summers and cold winters? You get one day off then do it all over again? And this job is a pay cut from what you're doing now?

    I say go for it.

Exactly. It's crap work for young guys who don't mind getting their butt kicked all day. It's up there with doing food service delivery or those Dollar Tree delivery routes that Schneider tries to pawn off on people.

    Never!!
They don't pay that much more if you buy a truck, fuel and do all the maintenance, plus the extra SS taxes and increased insurance costs.

You said money didn't matter. Sounds like you maybe just tired of holding the steering wheel. I was there after all those years!

Money is better if you do things correctly and taking a month off at a time is great!
