I've thought the same thing, but obviously I must be making things up and we don't hire messy drivers!

BackIsSore, I don't have a problem with what you're saying, it's just that it's not as bad as you may have it in ALL locations. There may be one or two bad apples in the bunch, but to come on here and tell drivers it's not worth it to move 2000 miles across the country to join the fleet is opinion based. Your opinion. To those who choose so, its the right call for their situation. We all come to this forum to promote positivity and encouragement for those seeking the position. And to have a differing opinion is fine. We all know that the end of the day, its a truck driving job and nobody has found the perfect one yet. But after my 29 years behind the wheel, 16 of which I was an owner operator, this one is right up there.

This is not a bad place and a very easy job. Just after starting here and dealing with the dirty trucks or the drivers assigned to them that didn't write up what needed to be fixed caught me by surprise after all the things that were said about driving for Walmart on this forum.

As for my husband having it so much better.................... at his DC, he was REALLY lucky to get his own truck after only 2.5 years. Thus, he was slip seating for 2.5 years. Luckily for him, there were a bunch of retirements, finally, and he was able to get the older truck (2012, that he really wanted) that was availalbe, but only because a transfer hadn't gotten his longevity back yet. It used to take 6-8 years there, to get your own truck.
The anger comment was made because all of your recent posts seem angry. Telling folks that there are some bad apples is fine, and noone would dispute that. Acting like that is how they all are, at every DC is not. The same with the slip seating. Most DC's make a major effort to keep you in 1 truck for the week. I am sorry yours is not the same. It is in their best interest, as it helps with productivity. Also, there are a few LTL jobs, in a few locations, that pay really well. That is not the norm and you know it. Yes, they are forced to hire a lot more drivers due to the retirements and trying to cut down on outside carriers, and yes, there will be teething pains. Yet, this is still a great job, with great people who really care and who really treat you well. If your DC is underperforming, might I suggest transferring to the next closest one. It really seems like it is an outlier based on what everyone else is saying. That might give you a completely different outlook. Just a suggestion. Sorry you are not happy.drozzer69, Woodenleg and noninetofive Thank this. -

I've said it before, Walmart isn't a perfect job, but it's darn close.
