When I was growing up in Pueblo and on down the valley I saw some awesome hail storms. It'll play hell with lots of things. Crops get totally wiped out, roofs ruined and cars with busted glass and hail dimples.

I don't know how many times I asked Striker questions about specifics on the chains. He is a good resource to have on here that has to deal with winter driving in the mountains. After driving through AK in the winter time the snow and ice with chains doesn't bother me as much as it use to. I have only had three pucker moments, one involved coming down Eisenhower is a heavy slush, chains on with a low engine brake setting. The drives started to slip and come around on me. I got it straightened out. I was only doing 25 mph at the time but this was at the top of the grade and I still had 7 more miles to go. The other two involved driving up steep grades in AK without chains and having the truck move a lot more than I would have like it to side to side. At that point you want to be easy on the throttle but yet you still want to get up the hill. It is a very delicate battle to have.

That's what screws up more people, they don't understand that there's times you just have to deal with some wheel slip and dancing around. They jump off the throttle to stop the slip and stall out. I have the same issue with new carhaulers, it's very hard to get then to grasp the concept of feathering the throttle when loading 2wd pickups. It's the exact same, you just have to learn to ride that ragged edge of traction without falling off the other side into a full out spin.

We are issued 4 singles and 2 doubles. Max requirement scenario, how would you apply chain stock?

I would put the 2 doubles on rear drive, 2 singles on front drive, and 2 singles on front trailer axle. Right or wrong?
