I've heard horror stories about other training facilities before, but your's takes the cake hands down.
Sorry to hear about your dreadful experience. But rest assured, not ALL driver training schools are like the one you had the misfortune of attending.

Right now, I think you need to get on top of their demand for payment --- before they put a ding on your credit rating which can affect your ability to attend another driving school and/or be accepted for training by a better trucking company. Just about all of the better trucking companies will do a credit check on their applicants. Needless to say, if it's not up to their standards, they'll turn you down.

Most likely the driving school, and I use the term lightly, that you attended is well aware of that, and will threaten you with collection and a ding on your credit report to obtain payment. As was suggested by MGASSEL, you'll probably find need for an attorney. But the courts move slowly, and until this matter is cleared up, you could be left out standing in the rain, --- putting you betwixt a rock and a hard place.

However, if you move quickly, you might be able to be accepted by a trucking company that offers training before the school you attended has a chance to ding your credit rating. If necessary, string 'em along with some excuse or reason why it'll take you a while to come up with the money. I wouldn't recommend flat refusing payment all together, or threatening them with a lawyer. That could cause them to contact a collection agency in short order, and poison your credit sooner rather than later.

It might be prudent on your part to contact an attorney, post haste, and ask for advice on how to go about handling this matter to avoid any more problems than you already may have brewing. Maybe, if the school you attended is contacted by an attorney who is working on the case, they'll back off, or an attorney may be able to stall them for awhile and prevent any action on the school's part until a court hears the case.

    In the meantime, ............

DannyBoy mentioned contacting Schneider, and I agree. Schneider's training program is one of the best in the trucking industry. They'll require 18 months employment with them once you've completed their training to completely repay their cost of training.

There are also other trucking companies that will train you, with only a 12 month obligation for repayment. If I were you, I'd do some quick research here at The Truckers' Report and decide on a few that meet your needs, requirements and likes --- then give them a call and/or turn in applications. The sooner the better, IMO. Don't waste any time! Git 'er done before DS has a chance to ruin your chances.

One company to avoid though is C.R. England. The failure rate with that company is extremely high, and not unlike what you've already been through. C.R. England finds it necessary to have metal detectors for drivers to pass through just to see their dispatcher, and armed guards on their company property. No other truckin' company I'm aware of resorts to that, so that oughta tell you SOMEthing about them.

Keep us posted and don't hesitate to ask us more questions as they arise.

Good luck and best of success.

    777lonewolf Thanks this.
