So, I have a question: Since this crash is going to follow the OP, he has to take the time to list it on any future applications that he fills out, and it may possibly affect his employability at another company, can and should he file a civil suit against the other driver (or claim against the company's insurance policy) to recover damages to compensate him for his lost time, effort and aggravation?
-
It happened yesterday. I'm sure you noticed the guard rail ( wires) were all FUBAR right before the lane follows into the station.
-
Im saying no.
Remember the hammer falls on the OTHER truck. He rammed the OP.
Im pretty sure the question might come up in the future but should be easily deflected by stating that he was a trainee and they got rammed from rear by a at fault driver. Easily researched enough by then.
Ive been hit before. No one asked me a #### thing about those....Boattlebot Thanks this. -
Oooo good question. I did loose alot of time on scene And more due to me needing to go to the terminal now.
-
That is not lost time. Log it on duty with location and go from there.
Accident time talking to company officers and to the Law is never lost time. Your future and possibly freedom depends on this .... -
Sure it's lost money. Computers in the truck cause it to stop at the 11th hour ten miles forcing a alternation to that appointment. ...
If we started prepaying what we fixing to lose in our future what does that make us?
Im not trying to be difficult. It's always aggravating to have to stand and talk to DOT, officers, tow people, repairmen etc. ANything that stops the wheels turning I have a problem with. Hence my changing thinking towards a future in which every one working gets a flat salary of some decent size rather than worry about the precious lost time.... -
Or at least be paid for everything you do. Right now, the only thing that I'm not paid for is fueling the truck.
Bump the dock for a live load / unload? $15
Load / unload takes more than 30 minutes? $16/hour
Waiting for road service after a breakdown? $16/hour
Unscheduled layover due to HOS? $50 + hotel room
Hook / drop a trailer? $5
And lots of other goodies. But fueling? I have to eat that.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
I'll talk to so.done when I get to the terminal. Maby I'll get a few bucks. Hell I'd take a meal voucher or something. Just something so it wasent completely lost time. There probably gunna sue the other company for a trailer anyways.
x1Heavy Thanks this.
