    At one time Heil had a good name, I do have a Heil headset/ mike for my 706 sorry to hear they are not up to snuff.

    Yeah I had one too but I went to a David Clark headset and never looked back. I also have avall and a bose (which I really like but it is almost $750) headsets. The adapter was easy to make.

    Why would 1/4 wave coax be needed for base stations but " no formula for mobile ". He had me until that. Still learning and educating myself.

    Nobody ever said that was a rule.
    Cable doesn't care whether it is connected to a base antenna or a mobile antenna.
    It's easy to get 50 ohms out of a base antenna
    But very difficult to do the same thing in a mobile application without a tuner or some creative engineering
