I've gotten calls from Old Dominion, Port of Oakland, Oak Harbor but not from Saia. They were my number 1 option if I was to leave my seniority and route w Reddaway.

OD is about an hour from where I live they pay $27 to start but only way I go with them is if they offer me a line haul position.
Oak Harbor top wage is $25.50 close to home but I like my route and don't want to start from the bottom again.

I just applied for FedEx. Saw a driver earlier and told me if they call me to use his name as reference.

Man, sometimes too many options is good but makes it harder to decide if leaving a good thing is worth it

Why don't you stop looking at different freight companies and join us on the dark side of the tanker world. I'm on track to bring in well over 100k this year and I don't have to mess with pallets.

I'm not sure about down in your area but here they never called me for months so I just went to the terminal. They pay pretty well a lot more than what Reddaway is doing, not sure about city or hourly.

I have Estes lined up as a possibility and if everything works out I'm going with them, I'll find out next week. I keep sitting at home, kinda sick of babysitting the phone waiting to find out if I'm working only to find out no work every other day.

I do know Saia has a lot of turnover, they are definitely not as laid back but seems they are pretty good. We lost a driver that went to them a few weeks ago.

I don't know the situation where you are, over here we are always needing help. I always see ads on Craigslists offering $2,000 sign on bonus

They say we need help but then they have no work pretty consistently. They can't find anyone who wants to work here. They are hiring for city, part time city and linehaul. Dock workers too. Everyone else pays more for all of those positions and no one wants to drive a 60mph truck.

I know you guys have an entire fleet of straight trucks, that should make it even easier to find people.

I don't have any idea what's up with this company. Maybe this all ties into the YRC issues.

Their HR does not reply. The "HR hotline" goes to voicemail. Talked to a school and they say LTL hiring is crazy in Reno. But they would say that. :^) I'll probably head up anyway.

@Beau, would your company hire someone right out of school?

They ask for 5 years experience in the related field. Local company with just 30 trucks.

Oh well, time machine is broken. You live in a good spot, wouldn't mind enjoying that weather myself.

What kind of tanker work do you do?. I heard the private fleet chemicals pay well but didn't hear of them paying that well.
