To me, it's easier to hook up doubles at the rear axle than at the front axle. That's my only consideration for dealing with doubles. (ease)

But the point of doubles is too put them on the front drive axle to get as much traction as possible

Depends on the truck, if the rear is primary drive axle, put them there. Regardless, it's overkill. Under normal conditions, I run a single on my rear drives, if they order it, I put on 4 singles, only time I run a drag chain is on the steep passes (Monarch, Douglass, 550). Most I've ever chained was 4 singles, a drag and a steer, but was delivering off-road to oil site outside Parachute, and that was what they required.

IMHO chains have better traction on the lead drivers. My reasoning is the lead axle gets a better bite than a trailing axle that has the snow already compacted by the truck first 2 axles. Make sense? You can pack it better than pull it. Parachute/Rangley my old pipeline stompn grounds.

Time for a vote ......
All those in favor of Global warming say AYE !
Against say NAE !
I suppose the problem then would be, after we all turn in our chains, as we come DOWN the hills, the signs will read : ALL TRUCKS MUST RUN FLOATATION TIRES NEXT 700 MILES !!
JMHO .........
Yeah, I know Jack ..... I keep turning down those offers from Yuk Yuks ....... sigh !
Know what's really funny, someone reading this won't know what a real floatation tire is !!striker, Hammer166 and otherhalftw Thank this. -
Right(?)....of course that's right!! -
